A. YES!! VetsRoll.org 2 will be expanded from 184 participants in 2010 (125 Veterans and “Rosie-the-Riveters” plus 59 trip assistants) to 300 participants in 2011 (200 Veterans and “Rosie-the-Riveters” plus 100 trip assistants)!! VetsRoll.org 2 will also welcome Korean Era Veterans (active duty by 12/31/1958; stateside or deployed overseas and honorably discharged) to join the WWII Veterans and the “Rosie-the-Riveters”!! VetsRoll.org 2 will also use hotel and restaurant facilities better equipped for the needs of our special group. Lastly, VetsRoll.org 2 will no longer involve the use of motorhomes and will consist entirely of deluxe motor coaches from Badger Coaches of Madison, WI.

Q. How do the Veterans know what to pack for the trip?
A. At a later time, the VetsRoll.org website (www.VetsRoll.org) will add a detailed list of what to pack, under the ‘Itinerary’ tab. All group functions are very casual (blue jeans or slacks are proper at all times). Temps will average in the 70’s during the day and 40’s-50’s in the evenings. VetsRoll.org will supply each participant with a VetsRoll t-shirt, a lined light weight jacket, a lanyard with your name (to be worn at all times), an armband (to identify you with our group) and a personal umbrella. If possible, pack light enough that one suitcase will suffice plus a personal effects bag (for medicine, camera, etc.).

Q. Do you have a travel itinerary?
A. The specifics of the trip itinerary are still being confirmed. Since there are many outside factors that can affect schedules, we will post the itinerary at a later date. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ III. Veterans

Q. What’s the cost to the WWII, Korean Era Veterans and “Rosie-the-Riveters”?
A. ZERO! We will not charge the Veterans any fee. They will only spend their own money on souvenirs and personal effects and on food costs above the per diem established by VetsRoll.org.

Q. Are all WWII and Korean Era Veterans welcome?
A. Yes. For purposes of VetsRoll.org eligibility, we define WWII Veterans as any American Veteran that was active duty prior to 12/31/1948 and a Korean Era 3 Veteran as active duty from 1/1/1949 through 12/31/1958 and honorably discharged. Our trip is a total of four days in duration, so we do have a very detailed application form for the Veterans and the assistants to fill out. We do require applicants to have a personal physician sign a release for travel.

Q. Are there any female Veterans traveling on this trip?
A. Yes, We have female Veterans already signed on.

Q. Who are the “Rosie-the-Riveters”?
A. “Rosie-the-Riveter” is a term used to describe the (mostly) ladies that went to work in America’s factories during World War II to fulfill a vital need of factory support to the Allied war effort and also to allow more “men” to enlist in the service. “Rosie” was invaluable to the success of the war effort and very worthy the equal recognition that VetsRoll.org wishes to bestow on them, along with our Veterans.

Q. What if the Veteran needs a wheelchair, or needs oxygen, etc?
A. VetsRoll.org will have enough travel assistants to attend to those with mobility needs and other medical needs. VetsRoll.org will provide wheelchairs, etc. to those who indicate the need on their entry form. We encourage you to bring your own collapsible chairs and/or walkers. VetsRoll.org will tag them appropriately.

Q. What about special dietary and medical needs?
A. We are accepting applications for MD, EMT, RN, PT and C.N.A.’s that wish to travel with us (at their own expense). The participants (and/or their physicians) are required to note all medical and dietary needs on the Veteran application form. VetsRoll.org will have a lead nurse in charge of the entire group, plus individual medical personnel assigned to each bus.

Q. Will previous VetsRoll.org or Honor Flight Veterans be allowed to participate in VetsRoll.org 2?
A. No. Similar to the previous question, the “spirit and intent” of VetsRoll.org is to raise funds to transfer those Veterans and “Rosie-the-Riveters” that have not previously been the recipient of such a great, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ IV. Trip Assistants

Q. Is there a cost to the assistants that are traveling with the group?
A. Yes, assistants will be traveling at their own expense (hotel, bus and food). The cost of traveling as a trip assistant is $500. This fee covers hotel rooms for three nights (double occupancy), tour bus costs, all group meals, admission to 4 Arlington National Cemetery and associated gratuities. The assistant fee is due within 15 days of notification of acceptance by VetsRoll.org.

Q. Will VetsRoll.org allow spouses and/or family members to travel with?
A. No. This is the most common and most difficult question we receive, but unfortunately, not at this time, unless they travel as an assistant (and they must be able to meet all the physical requirements of a Trip Assistant). Please understand, for every spouse or family member that does travel with, there may be a WWII or Korean Era Veteran or “Rosie-the-Riveter” that is kept from making this once-in-a-lifetime trip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ V.
